Health and fitness have always been a priority with me and I am no stranger to a variety of fitness efforts, but at 51 years old I can honestly say I have never enjoyed a class of any kind of fitness activity as much as I'm enjoying Corrine Fuentes' Pilates classes. I’ve known Corrine many, many years, and can easily vouch for her sincere and thoughtful personal character, but it wasn’t until she established her Pilates classes locally that I was able to take advantage of her professional and extensive knowledge of the Pilates forum, and can now vouch for her caring and insightful leadership as a certified Pilates instructor. I have tried Pilates before, and can honestly say there is no comparison between the fast-paced, quick-fix mentality of the first Pilates class I took from another area instructor and Corrine's well-planned, gradual, deep-reaching methods she incorporates into her class. She is succinct, direct, educational, fun, punctual, easy to understand, beautiful in her imagery and metaphoric descriptions (you know exactly how to move when she says to 'zip up those abs'!), not to mention that her calm voice intones the perfect stress-free instruction as you move. She is vigilant that each class member is comfortable, proper in their technique, and can gently guide you to correct positioning if necessary without missing a beat with the rest of the class. I started with her Beginner class back in early spring and in these past few months have not only noticed a newfound strength, but am enjoying the other benefits of Pilates in general as we move up the scale to more advanced moves: I stand straighter, my joints are less achy, I'm aware of my stance, posture, and love the deep balance and strength I feel emanating from my core, not to mention the mental benefits I gain with each class; there is a relaxing meditative benefit to be acquired after each session that I know stems from the way Corrine leads her class. I cannot applaud Corrine's instruction enough, her classes are a not-to-be-missed event for me and my other classmates and any employer would be receiving a virtual goldmine in hiring her to their staff. |
